- Mix Teco Marine Seafood Salt directly into water.
- Stir vigorously to thoroughly mix salt and water. Although the solution can be used immediately after mixing, we suggest that you let the water sit for at least an hour prior to use. This allows the salt to completely dissipate in the water before use.
- Adjust salinity with an accurate hydrometer. Recommended specific gravity range: 1.020 to 1.023 at 75F (24C)
- If specific gravity is too low, add more Teco Maine Seafood Salt. If too high, add more water.
- Tightly reseal bucket to keep moisture out. Be sure to store remaining salt in cool dry place.
NEVER mix salt in an aquarium containing animals. In new aquariums, transfer animals to the aquarium only after salt is completely mixed, the solution aerated, and specific gravity adjusted correctly.
Water changes
We recommend monitoring your water parameters (nitrites, phosphates, alkalinity, and pH) and performing 25% water changes as necessary. To prepare small quantities of TECO Marine Seafood Salt, use 1/2 cup (approximately 140 grams) of TECO Marine Seafood Salt for each U.S. gallon of water (3.781 l). Mix as directed above.
