TECO Dry Buffer safely raises pH to 8.3. It will not cause pH spikes even if inadvertently overdosed. TECO Dry Buffer is a full spectrum product and not simply sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate, commonly sold as a substitute.
Directions
Add 5 g (1 level teaspoon) for each 20 gallons. Dissolve in at least one cup of freshwater. This dose will also raise alkalinity by about 2.5-3 DKH. Add daily until pH stabilizes at 8.3. This may take several days, depending on original pH and alkalinity. Thereafter, use biweekly to maintain a pH of 8.3. Test pH and alkalinity on a regular basis.
Notes on use
Alkalinity is the measure of the dissolved minerals in water that make up the buffering capacity of the water. In marine and reef aquariums alkalinity helps maintain stable pH levels. Without a high enough, full spectrum of alkaline buffers marine organisms cannot effectively use other elements such as calcium. It is important not to overdose because that can cause calcium to fall out of solution. It is recommended that alkalinity be kept between 8 to 11 dKH. Do not exceed 12 DKHl and do not go below 6 DKH TECO Dry Buffer is a complete, full spectrum buffer based on the principal elements of alkalinity: carbonates and bicarbonates with added sulfate and borate to complete the addition of all necessary buffers.
